Ouch! I had my first cystoscopy last week. I think/hope that you will be as kind as my doctor was. My spouse could have been in the room and watched on the monitor with me, but neither of us wanted to watch, and I wanted laughing gas. So when the doctor came in, it was just me and the laughing gas. Although I probably appeared unconscious, he spoke to me kindly, told me I didn't need to speak if I didn't want to, and he would talk me through what he was doing so there were no surprises. And he did. I appreciated that he treated me as though I was fully conscious and not just a piece of meat. I don't know if doctors are trained for that or not, but they should be.

In these 17 yrs I have self taught myself about diabetes via books as doctors don't have time or cannot explain in simple English. I wish this video was out when I knew nothing. What are requirements to eligible for AMC exam it’s is compulsory required that your degree valid in ECFMG then only we can write this exam like that anything?

It must be a generational thing, but mine did not dread networking, indeed it was how we got jobs (back in the day). My kids tell me it's "different now". Maybe it is, but the best way to fail is not to try.

I'm only an undergrad and I relate with what you're saying about the self-doubt and that knocking your confidence.

I'm doing a clinical teaching fellow job in surgery. The clinical bit (although only 50% of the time) has felt like a roller coaster. Can really relate to the bit when you didn't know what to do because no one told you what to do, I'm very much like that. It seems obvious in retrospect. I thought it was because I was a CTF, but interesting to see that as a CST you had a similar experience, you just get thrown in it to figure it out by yourself. Feels better now though with the occasional dips lol

As an engineer I cannot quite see how taking a measurement at 30min and 120 min can give data other than a straight line. Even three points can only describe a curve so a minimum of four points would be needed for even a simple curve. Given that we are talikg of spikes (I have seen a Japanese paper showing that such a spike can ideed be quite pointy) multiple data points would seem necessary for any practical use. My main point is that low levels at 30 and 120 minutes could completely miss a glucose spike. Enjoy following you on RUclips and hope you ultimately decide that Aus is the place for you.

For me personally these type of devices are a total no go currently. I get tested yearly because I have problems that seem to be diabetes related but my blood sugar levels always come back fine. Wearing a device like this would just drive my issues with anxiety thru the roof and so would be detrimental to my mental health. If in the future I do get diagnosed as having diabetes then at that point I could see a use for the device as an easy means of tracking my sugar lvls automatically(assuming they have the functionality to record lvls over the course of a month or so). That would potentially be useful data for my Dr to have to adjust medication etc.

As a Type 2 diabetic with good control. 6.1% HBA1C over a long period, I have enjoyed and appreciated this video. For T1 diabetics, I can see the advantage of replacing multiple skin prick measurements with an electronic monitor but for T2 there is no need for excessive testing. HBA1C is good enough for most and a lot cheaper than the $2,600AUD annual cost of the attached skin monitor. T1s pay much less in Australia via a government subsidy.

Now I am an assistant professor in the department of general medicine. With this qualification am I eligible to apply for a job in australia? If so, what level of job can i get? Thanks for this video. As a med student in the UK who just started hospital placements, it's so helpful to hear more senior trainees talk about their anxieties and the importance of asking questions free of embarrassment. This really reassured me that there's no expectation to arrive at the wards and be perfect, because every other junior doctor on the ward is also still working to better their craft and vocation. While I love finally getting to see my medical knowledge put into practice on placement, I've been finding myself in the 'fear zone' a lot - just getting used to the hospital environment, poking needles into people on a daily basis, and being quizzed by consultants has been a huge transition for me. Even if that anxious feeling doesn't completely go away, it's helpful to hear from colleagues further in their training that it is all part of the process and progression. All the best with your future training!
